Central Asia Resources Limited (ASX:CVR) is focused on gold in Kazakhstan.
Mining commenced at its Dalabai Project on 26 September 2011. Production, averaging 25,000 ounces per year of gold and 550,000 ounces per year of silver, is on schedule to commence in January 2012.
The Company has five prospects in Kazakhstan; Dalabai, Altyntas, Bizhe, Kepken and Kengir with a total Resource of 1.28M ounces of gold.
Kazakhstan, in the north of central Asia, is bordered by Uzbekistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, China, Russia, Turkmenistan and the Caspian Sea. It is about the same size as Western Australia, covering an area of 2.7 million square kilometres, with a population of about 16 million people.
The country has a Standard and Poor’s Credit Rating of ‘BBB’ or ‘investment grade’. Kazakhstan is resource rich, a top 10 producer of chrome, copper, gold, iron, lead, silver, uranium, zinc, and a significant oil producer. It has a well established mining industry and a stable regulatory environment.
