FAQ
What is Central Asia's strategy for increasing shareholder value?
We have three strategies to increase shareholder value:
1) By increasing resources through exploration programmes. Drilling programmes will be undertaken at Dalabai, Bizhe and Altyntas in 2012.
2) By starting and increasing gold production. We are on schedule to commence production at Dalabai in January 2012 at a rate of 15,000 ounces of gold per year. We expect to double that next year to 30,000 ounces of gold per year, and then to add 40,000 ounces from Altyntas heap leach in 2013 and a further 100,000 ounces from Altyntas CIL.
3) By acquisition. We will actively pursue opportunities in the Dalabai region, to acquire, joint-venture or toll process for other gold deposits.
Why is Central Asia exploring in Kazakhstan?
Kazakhstan has all the factors an exploration company could hope for - it is geologically highly prospective for numerous minerals, including gold, with extensive historical records. It has a highly educated and motivated workforce, with stable and investment friendly tax and mining regulation. There are an increasing number of "western" mining companies discovering this and seeking opportunities in Kazakhstan.
How far away is Central Asia from production?
We are on track to become a gold producer in January 2012.
